Powering Concrete Production in Lusail: 100 TR Industrial Chiller Installation for Qatar Infra Projects

Industry: Construction & Infrastructure | Location: Lusail, Qatar | Solution: DANA DC-100000 (100 TR)

The Challenge: Critical Temperature Control in 50°C+ Heat

In the rapid development of Lusail’s infrastructure, concrete pouring is a 24/7 operation. However, the extreme Qatar summer, with ambient temperatures frequently exceeding 50°C, poses a significant risk to structural integrity. High-temperature water used in concrete mixing leads to rapid hydration, causing thermal cracking and reduced compressive strength. The client required a cooling solution capable of bringing large volumes of water down to 5°C-10°C instantaneously, despite the harsh, saline, and sandy coastal environment of Lusail.

The Solution: DANA DC-100000 (100 TR) Industrial Chiller

DANA Water Coolers deployed the DC-100000, a 100-ton refrigeration (TR) industrial chiller engineered specifically for heavy-duty construction applications. Key technical features included:

  • T3 Tropicalized Compressors: Heavy-duty reciprocating/screw compressors designed to operate efficiently at ambient temperatures up to 52°C without tripping.
  • Gold Fin™ Anti-Corrosive Coating: To combat the corrosive saline air of the Lusail coast, the condenser fins were treated with Gold Fin coating, doubling the lifespan of the heat exchanger compared to standard aluminum fins.
  • Sand-Trap Filters: Specialized filtration to prevent the ingress of fine Qatari sand into the internal mechanical components, ensuring long-term operational stability.

The Results: Zero Downtime, Superior Strength

By integrating the DANA DC-100000 into their batching plant, the client achieved:

  • Consistent Water Temperature: Maintained a steady 7°C water supply for the mixing process, ensuring the concrete met all municipality and structural engineering standards.
  • Zero Downtime: The system operated continuously through the peak of July and August without a single heat-related shutdown.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Compliance: As with all DANA installations since 2001, the project adhered to strict quality management protocols, providing the client with full peace of mind.

Hydrating 1000+ Personnel: DANA DWC-250 Installation at a Mega Labor Camp in Neom/Riyadh, KSA

Industry: Workforce Logistics / Construction | Location: Riyadh/Neom Region, KSA | Solution: DANA DWC-250 (Mega Series)

The Challenge: High-Volume Demand and Desert Hygiene

In the arid regions of Saudi Arabia, where Vision 2030 projects are in full swing, managing the welfare of thousands of site personnel is a logistical priority. A mega labor camp housing over 1,000 workers faced the challenge of providing chilled, hygienic drinking water during peak break hours. The ambient temperature often reached 52°C, and standard coolers were failing to keep up with the recovery time required for high-volume consumption. Furthermore, the solution needed to meet strict municipality health and safety (HSE) standards for drinking water hygiene.

The Solution: DANA DWC-250 Stainless Steel Mega Coolers

DANA Water Coolers installed a battery of DWC-250 units, the largest in our stainless steel water cooler range. These units were customized for the KSA desert environment:

  • High-Capacity Storage & Fast Recovery: Each DWC-250 provides 250 gallons of chilled storage with a rapid cooling cycle, ensuring water remains at 10°C even during the midday rush.
  • T3 Specification Compressors: Equipped with high-ambient compressors to ensure the cooling cycle remains uninterrupted by the intense Saudi sun.
  • Gold Fin™ Protection: Applied to the condenser coils to prevent corrosion from airborne dust and sand particles, maintaining high thermal efficiency.
  • Lead-Free & Hygienic: Built with high-grade Stainless Steel (SS 304/316 options) to ensure compliance with international food-grade standards and local hygiene regulations.

The Results: Optimal Welfare and Reliability

The installation transformed the camp’s hydration infrastructure:

  • Continuous Supply: Even with 1000+ workers, the DWC-250 units maintained a constant supply of chilled water, eliminating the “warm water” complaints common with inferior models.
  • HSE Compliance: The units successfully passed all municipality inspections for water quality and cooling efficiency.
  • Decades of Heritage: Levering DANA’s heritage since 2001, the client benefitted from a robust warranty and a design optimized for the specific challenges of the Saudi Arabian climate.
